What is the best way to lose belly fat?

Unfortunately you can't spot check where you lose fat. The process of fat loss will happen gradually over your whole body. There also isn’t a magic answer to lose fat, the basics come down to eating less calories than you’re burning off. Check out our Building Blocks of Weight Loss blog here for a more in depth explanation.

Is cardio better for fat loss than weight training?

Not quite. When aiming to lose weight, it is important to try to hold on to as much muscle as you can, ensuring all the weight you’re losing is fat. This will give you that ‘toned’ and ‘lean’ physique  Weight/resistance training is perfect to ensure you hold onto this, along with eating sufficient protein. That being said, cardio pays an important role in fitness in general, working your cardiovascular system is crucial to make sure you’re looking after the most important muscle, your heart! For a well rounded fat loss routine, we recommend including a range of cardio based exercise and resistance training.

What is the best way to get a six pack?

Unfortunately, doing those 100 sit ups a day really isn’t going to do a lot. Everybody has abdominal muscles, it’s just most people’s are hidden by a layer of fat, this is 100% normal. To have visible abs, you need to have a very low body fat percentage, which takes a lot of hard work and upkeep. The best way to see that set of washboard abs is to bring your body fat percentage down. This is done by essentially eating less than you are burning off during the day. Check out our Building Blocks of Weight Loss blog for more.

How many calories should I be eating?

Everybody’s calorific needs are going to be very different. There are a lot of factors taken into consideration when calculating someone’s ideal calorie intake, such as, age, gender, weight, height and activity level. It also depends what your personal fitness goal is, wanting to lose weight means eating less than if you wanted to build muscle. Check out our calorie calculator to see your rough calorie goal.

How often should I have a cheat day?

At Flamin’ Fitness, we believe ‘cheat days’ are a load of sh*t. We believe that health and fitness should be an enjoyable, maintainable pursuit. This means you shouldn’t be feeling the need to ‘cheat’. You should be including the foods you love into your daily eating habits, being conscious off the amount you’re eating but not restrictive. The whole concept of ‘cheat days’ fosters unhealthy relationships with food. If you want that biscuit, have that damn biscuit, just don’t be disheartened when the scales have gone up after demolishing a packet a day.
